Take "Me" Time
So it has been 5 months since I started my journey to fitness, I think I can almost say it's a habit, I now crave fitness, I am not going to lie, there are still days where I would rather do anything but exercise, on those days I have chosen to rename it!
I no longer exercise, I take "me time". I no longer look at it as the dreaded treadmill or the dreaded workout, it is simply "me time" - a time where I focus on me and my health. I listen to my body if it says I can do more, I push, if it says I don't think so sister, I go slow... after all I am only trying to improve me. I do not have any hidden goals, I am not paying someone to tell me what "I" need, I am doing what I need, when I need it, and for as long as I can do it.
Exercise to me was something that I was NOT interested in at all 6 months ago, as a matter of fact I would often make jokes about it, my favorite was... if you see me running, you better run too!!! Well now if you come visit me, you might see me run, you are welcome to join me, but I am not running because something scary is behind me, I am running so that if something scary is behind me I know I am going to get away!!! LOL
So we all know the fitness world is all about results, we all want something in exchange for our fitness sacrifice, there is always a reason to start and we are told to set goals, so I started this blog and simply stated that I want to be fit and fabulous by the time I hit 50. I want to be in the best shape of my life going into the later years in my life, I want to ensure I am here for all the milestones that are to come, I want to be healthy enough to run with grandkids (not anytime soon) I want to be healthy and travel the world, I want to ensure I am here for the long haul and not just "be" I want to be present!!! I want to participate.
So that was my motivation, now, a side effect of this goal, I am seeing results!!! I am starting to notice little things in pictures that I like!!! I am starting to say I like that photo even though I might be in a bikini, I am not self conscious of sucking it all in or getting my angles just right lol.
I would always hesitate and analyze every photo I was in to make sure I was happy with "me" in the photo. Now I am pleasantly surprised when I say - hey I love that photo... or wow what a great photo of us, send me that or post that!
I now feel a new confidence, I always thought I was fairly confident, but now I feel a new kind of confidence and I like it!
My weight is as always changing and coming down slowly - but I notice it does not go up as fast as it used to, before I would fluctuate by 5-10lbs in a week, I am now more consistent and the weight loss comes off little by little... but the changes I am seeing and feeling far outweigh (see what I did there) anything the scale tells me.
Have a great, and today I encourage you to take that step, just one step...
